Pros

Fantastic team with very friendly staff Management care about employees Good Culture- this has been a recent focus Goos Salary Good overall package access to some benefits of UNSW staff Growing organisation an opportunity to make a difference to its success.

Cons

The team is growing an this can make it difficult sometimes, however a hiring culture is preferable to a "make do" culture Almost all of the roles are 100% office based when some could have some WFH time, people increasingly value flexibility in the workplace. Previous managers actions impacted culture, whilst they are no longer there, an work is being done to change the culture which they are doing but for employees with long tenure this is often at the back of their minds

Cons

Where should I begin… Scientia as a company is a very complicated place. On one hand, it has great potential thanks to the talented individuals working there, but on the other hand, it is deeply disappointing due to the poor culture and lack of effective leadership. Management shows little to no willingness to address or resolve ongoing issues. In practice, this creates an environment of hidden (and sometimes open) hostility, with distrust toward employees, exclusionary behavior, and a culture that contradicts the values the organization claims to promote. Outdated technologies, ineffective processes, and a lack of proper structures make things worse. A blame culture is widespread. Many employees are thrown into random roles without adequate preparation, training, or exposure, which prevents them from performing properly and from contributing to a healthy, inclusive workplace. Instead of supporting staff, leadership focuses on pointing out mistakes, often intimidating people into staying longer than they otherwise would. Employees are forced to endure incompetence, unrealistic expectations, and little to no support while being made to feel belittled and disrespected. Development opportunities are virtually nonexistent, and leadership provides only empty promises about promotions. The core issue lies with those in charge. Those who should serve as role models instead dismiss ideas, ignore collaboration, and push their own way of doing things without acknowledging others. Communication is poor, teamwork is lacking, and overall job satisfaction is extremely low. To make matters worse, the people operations function is also unprofessional and condescending in their approach to employees. Rather than being an advocate for staff or helping to resolve issues, they act as an extension of leadership, dismissing concerns and offering no real support. All the other negative comments here are fully relevant and sadly true.
