Pros

1. The medical knowledge experience and shadowing doctors. 2. THE NURSES: they rock! Always nice! THE DOCTORS: typical doctor behavior, ignore them if they have a look on their faces or if their mood isn't "up to par" every shift. They go through a lot and it's understandable.

Cons

Let me start off by saying..only apply here as a last resort..the very last resort. Below is a list of all that is wrong with this company or needs to be adjusted: 1. The hiring process is very long and tedious, you'll do the interview then they'll tell you that you'' have to wait for an "open position". Why do you have available jobs on your website if you're not planning on hiring immediately for those "avaiable jobs"? I'll never understand that. 1b. After you've received a confirmation for an open position you'll do training online which is unpaid by the way; one week of training. Keep in my mind that the training you do online will NOT "in no shape way or form" assist you when you're at the hospital. The EMR that you'll train on is completely different than what you'll use in the hospital; they didn't even try or attempt to get a template or a copy of the EMR used in the hospital and that actually set all scribes up for failure IMPO. 2. You'll have a conditional acceptance after training and then after training, you're still not fully hired. They'll randomly/ casually tell you when you least expect it "Hey you have to pass your mock before you're hired". 3. Pay close attention to your schedule. At the beginning of the hiring process, they'll ask for an availability form, bare in mind that, that form is only for training and not for the remainder of the quarter or year or whenever you get hired. They'll send out a "schedule request" every month for you submit. Also keep in my mind that, that request is not always fulfilled to your availability Do not fall for the "Oh our schedules are very "flexible", IT IS NOT. 4. They'll also schedule you for 12hr shifts, back-to-back..get use to that. If you're not, your body will have a hard time adjusting. 5. During your "residency training" you'll have quizzes to complete that goes towards your mock solo on whether or not you actually pass. WASTE OF TIME. when as a scribe you should focus on properly charting and getting that down pat. 6. THE TRAINERS: some are really nice, others have this very obnoxious attitude and talk bad about the company in your presence. Talk to your trainers and senior scribes that they shouldn't talk bad about the company in front of new scribes. It's disappointing and discouraging. Also advise your trainers, that this is a "teaching moment", act like it and lose the haughty voice/personality. 7. GET WORKING RELIABLE COMPUTERS! 8. Do better for the pay. It disgraceful what scribes get paid for all the work we do. Its true..MCD's workers get paid more. Invest in your scribes with good pay "Encouragement strengths labor". 10. They'll schedule you for times you said you're unavailable..even though you've completed a schedule request form. Defeats the purpose of completing one.
