Pros

Working in the Appliance Department, it is easy to make $1,500-$2,000 /month working part time. I would typically work 20-25 hrs a week. Lots of free time. If your sales are good, it's a fairly autonomous job. Not a lot of oversight. Not a lot of busy work. Typically 3%-5% commission on appliances that cost between $279-$4k. If you're good with people and you don't have a lot of self-respect, this is the job for you.

Cons

You are not just selling appliances. You sell appliances, credit cards, membership email enrollment, protection agreements, and customer service surveys. There are a lot of metrics to hit. It's also retail. People will yell at you daily. When it's good, it's good. When it's bad, you feel like throwing yourself into a fire. It is COMMISSION ONLY. No base pay. If there are no customers in the store, you are blamed for not calling your leads, and you also don't get paid. It is a draw system, so they have to pay you at least minimum wage, but they count it as an interest free loan and take it out of future commissions you will make to even out the scales. There is no recognition unless you sell ALL OF THE PROTECTION AGREEMENTS. Most people are skeptical of the extended warranties... so this is incredibly difficult. Overall, if there is something you're missing on the metrics table, you will be shat upon by management for it. You might have the best sales in the department with an incredible ratio of warranties sold, but if you didn't get enough credit apps or surveys or email addresses, you are worth nothing to them. While the money is easy, the loss to your self-esteem and self worth is atrocious.

Pros

Good team and good compensation

Cons

The contract is only for 30 days, so it needs to be renewed every month, and we always lose access during the process. This creates some uncertainty for us.
