Pros
Working as an appliance associate, you can make decent money. I've met many friends through the company and Sears does carry a large selection of appliances. Flexible hours are nice too (though it's highly dependent on your manager).
Cons
Where to start? First, Sears has the worst delivery service of all major appliance retailers. Bar none. They will screw up your order, delivery broken product, then blame you for not ringing it correctly and you will lose your entire sale (which means your commission). This is the major source of frustration. Second, Sears thought it would be a great idea to give all consultative sales associates an iPad. Terrible idea. They grade you on how much you use it (which impacts your hours), yet the iPad rarely works and is EXTREMELY slow. It's an idiotic system, a flawed product, and it will cost you sales (then you'll have managers yell at you about why you're not using it - it doesn't work, stupid). Third, the company thinks that the best way to increase business is through the internet. It may work for Amazon, but it won't work for Sears. Just wait until you have to price match your own company and lose commission for doing so. They couldn't give two shakes about the appliance associate at the store level as long as the internet gets the sale. Finally, and on the same topic, they don't care about the physical stores anymore and that's unbelievably obvious. All they want to do is grow the online business and leave the stores to rot. It's such a shame. Sears used to be such a storied and respected name. Not anymore.
