Pros
Securian truly values their employees, and in my experience values their contributions to the companies success. It's composed of several different divisions, all of which have a different culture. The company is extremely stable, and is known for going out of their way to ensure employee's tenure. Regular 30, 35, and 40 year anniversaries are the norm.
Cons
Although extremely stable, which is positive, the company can be painstakingly conservative at times. Advancement opportunities are often limited, and favoritism can (again at times) be seen clearly. Individuals in their Management Services program leapfrog tenured, more experienced, and oftentimes more qualified employees; but this isn't unexpected.
