There is over time if you need it. Work balance is ok depending on the shift pattern. Not everyday is the same.
Cons
No career progress, the pay is not the best even with over time. The hours are long but thats expected in care. Staff are not appreciated or given any care or support if they was involved in a traumatic incident.
The staff are very hard working and do their utmost to support the service users. If you have a good manager you are able to have some sort of flexibility.
Cons
The pay is not good for what you have to deal with especially regarding challenging behaviour
You get deducted an hour break which you 8/10 you actually do not take cause your constantly with a service users.
They focus heavily on documentation cause they want a better cqc score. Which in turn has taken away from the care of service users.
Old staff are relied upon to much and it can get to much as there are no benefits from over working.
