Pros

They give a decent background in digital marketing and opportunities for growth within the company.

Cons

Huge lack of diversity. Just scrolling through their website to look at their team and there's only a very minimal amount of people of color. Higher ups don't really care about their employees. I was located in Buffalo of May 2022 when a very tragic event happened and I (as a Black employee) didn't have anyone in management or higher check in on me to see if I was okay or even alive. The work structure doesn't really make sense and you definitely get overworked for the amount of money they pay you.

CEO Response: It is great to hear that a background in digital marketing was a great start to their career. Our mission is to “grow together” with our customers and employees. We pride ourselves on building a culture that supports many people entering the digital marketing field and we are happy to hear that those growth opportunities were visible to this former employee! One of these opportunities to grow together is having a workplace that is reflective of the diversity of the country we live in. Semify works hard to attract and retain employees from all cultural backgrounds, regions (we hire in all 50 states), educational backgrounds, races, beliefs, and identities. While the feedback shows that we have a long way to go, we are focused on it and determined to do better. Thank you for the feedback! The tragic shooting at a Tops Friendly Market in Buffalo, NY in May 2022 was beyond horrible and something that we wish no one has to go through, ever. If you or anyone you know fears for their safety do not wait for employer support; call 911 immediately for the proper emergency response teams equipped to help. Additionally, when tragedies like these occur, there are free resources from professionals trained to support (Buffalo shooting support can be found here: https://ovc.ojp.gov/resources-and-support-victims-buffalo-new-york) those impacted in any way. We implore anyone impacted by this event to get the immediate or long-term support they need. Separately, while the company is headquartered in Rochester, NY (about 90 minutes from Buffalo, NY by car) and has almost two hundred employees spread across 38 of the lower 48 states (we are a remote-first employee culture and do not require employees to live in or near Rochester, NY), we do need to have a better emergency response communication protocol when tragedy or emergencies strike in any community where we have employees present. We are a small but growing company and simply do not have a system in place for this type of event yet. Not checking in on this employee as events were unfolding in Buffalo in May of 2022 was a mistake and we are sorry. This will be corrected thanks to this feedback. As for the “overworked” statement, we do have a high standard which is why we achieve exceptional results for our reseller partners and their clients. That said, we never require anyone to work beyond their allotted hours, and we have strong support systems to make sure work-life balance is achieved; 1-on-1 training, an extensive employee wiki/videos, weekly feedback loops with managers, and executive skip level meetings to make sure that everyone can achieve the same standard while growing with the company. We are the first to admit that working at Semify is a “high bar,” but only through pushing ourselves to achieve this standard do we find our opportunity for growth!

Pros

- Amazing team - Lots of support available - the job isn’t hard once you learn what you’re doing - Great culture - remote!!!!!! - Async work is awesome Not to take away from anyone else’s negative experience but a lot of the complaints I’m seeing on here are overblown. The workload isn’t nothing, you will have work to do everyday, but it’s not like you have a grueling day every day and you can’t take a break. Once you learn what you’re doing, your workload won’t feel like anything out of the ordinary. Now the pay certainly could be better, there are opportunities to bring home some extra money, but just in general we need a raise. Several internal managerial positions have opened up in the last year or so, so advancement is there

Cons

We really need a raise! It seems like our base wage is not keeping up with the country. I’d say we’re on the lower end for jobs that require a degree

Pros

Freedom to try way to do things. Some of the teams within Semify are strong.

Cons

Lack of accountability, quick to blame everyone else, hiring unqualified people to do high level jobs. Management will make descisions and then change on a whim if you are friends and can get them one on one. Management is often interested in trying to act friendly and social. More so than doing what is best for the business. For this reason they will never be as successful as they hope. Every acquisition has lacked to bring in close to the value promise. They promote company values from a core rule book, but only implement the parts they like and find easy, diluting the efficiency and making things worse.
