Pros
Decent salary, good health benefits, good PTO, unlimited sick days, some good colleagues
Cons
Before I started at Sensient I heard about their bad reputation in the Cosmetics industry, but I wanted to give Sensient a chance and also, I was extremely excited about the role I was offered that was directly aligned with my interests. During my first days during my orientation, I already could tell the rumors I had heard about Sensient were in fact true. It started with bad experiences with HR and progressed into witnessing the toxic work environment and resulting low employee morale. Employees are not valued and treated as disposable nothings. During just a short time at Sensient I have seen 15 people leave the South Plainfield location, some fired unfairly. The Application Lab is especially a revolving door due to one bad apple that continues to stay. Upper management and HR is aware of the issues and low employee morale and have tried to remedy it by organizing social events like a company BBQ and fun competitions, as well as updating the horrible office décor. However, these initiatives are like putting a band-aid on a wound that needs stitches. It will not help because Sensient needs more urgent care – it needs a complete overhaul of upper management and toxic people.
