Pros

1) The Technology! Sfara is the brainchild of an ex-Mercedes Benz Physicist, who teamed up with a ex. Verizon Telematics guru, to execute a product from their vision of embedding safety technology into a Mobile App. Sfara's secret sauce is its Data Science, which is embedded in their App as a suite of Sensor Analysis algorithms, and surfaced to the UI by an SDK. The SDK along with the Sensor Analysis Library is packaged not just in their Apps but also sold as a product offering to Mercedes. 2) The Fun! you will likely participate in interesting exercises - like taking out a Zipcar and taking the App for a test-drive to calibrate it, or strapping the mobile device (with App installed) on to a dummy and pushing the poor dummy down a flight of stairs. It's a real blast and an amazing learning experience. If you are a mobile app enthusiast just wait until you peek inside the SDK. Your head will be swimming with the sheer brilliance of the work. I have worked on DARPA style projects and this is definitely in that league or better.

Cons

You have to listen to Frank Sinatra whenever you pass the lobby of the building (as it's in Hoboken) although this torture ends as soon as you enter the elevator (Sfara is on the fifth floor) You also may get too addicted to this work, talk about it all the time, and bore your friends.

Pros

I worked with Sfara for 1.5 years, supporting them with product UI, investor pitches, website design and development, and more. As a result, I interacted with employees at all levels of the organization, from mobile developers to the executives. I found the people and the environment to be smart, fun, engaging and extremely committed to the core mission of safety.

Cons

It’s a startup, so yes, there are challenges, along with some blood, sweat and tears. The potential for this company is enormous, so I highly recommend working here if you are concerned with making a positive impact on society and in working for a company on its way up.
