Strong experience, weak feedback culture, plan for 10mo-2 yrs, good launchpad if you stay detached from long-term growth - Anonymous Shakudo Employee Review

Pros

Solid place to build savings, get real enterprise client experience (Loblaws and other recognizable names), and put brand names on your resume that you can leverage with future employers. Set expectations on tenure: most people make it to around 10–12 months, but two years is rare given the constant restructuring. The handful who have managed to stay longer than 2yrs aren't immune either, and they know it well- they see the same pattern play out around them: vague seemingly passive-aggressive feedback, pushing people pushed to quit or are let go if they don't.

Cons

For prospective employees: this is a genuinely good place to build skills, savings, and resume-grade brand names. Go in planning for 10 mos to 2 years with that goal, keep your expectations on feedback and long-term growth modest, and you'll likely leave — as I did — with no regrets and most of your Shakudo professional relationships intact.

Pros

Some of the people here are smart, kind, and talented.

Cons

Toxic work culture with an inept, immature CEO with no leadership experience, no vision, and no strategy. Literally the worst place I've ever worked. Avoid at all costs.

Pros

There is nothing positive to say about this company.

Cons

Worst professional experience of my career. The CEO is immature and deeply inexperienced — very low EQ and absolutely no clue as to how to build a tech startup (his background is in enterprises and banks, which explains a lot). Toxic work culture abounds, where employees are monitored, micromanaged, and stabbed in the back. Lack of understanding that in order to make money, one must spend money. Very high turnover, understandably. Stay away.
