Just don’t... - Stylist Shear Excellence Employee Review

Pros

Money is better than other men’s salons. Free massages. Owners REALLY like to drink, so good wine is provided at work functions.

Cons

More stress than a $6.99 haircut sale. When you get hired, they paint this picture that quality cuts are the most important things the stylists can provide, when realistically, you’ve got 15 mins to churn and burn through haircut that is supposed to be “perfect” but they still want to fit as many services onto your book to maximize their income rather than being able to take time. 10 hours shifts with 30 minute (or less if you’re running behind) lunch breaks. Lots of passive aggressiveness from management/ownership. Unprofessional behavior from management/ownership. Lack of communication. Emense micromanaging. Being called stupid or retarded by a manager to other stylists.

Pros

You will be busy and making money from day one. They will actually train you unlike most companies and not some cookie cutter training (think Supercuts) that isn’t helpful, Tabitha (the gm and trainer) is talented and the training is amazing and catered to you and your strengths and weaknesses. They have helped me and many others become a better stylist. The owners are actually hands on and active in the business, they aren’t afraid to pick up a phone or sweep up hair in the shop, which makes a huge difference to work for people who don’t ask you to do things they aren’t willing to do themselves. As a member of the LGBT community, the company as a whole is very supportive and management is great. I love working for this company and you would be lucky to work here too.

Cons

The only cons would be for anyone who isn’t looking to work hard because like I said you will be busy from day one.

Pros

Eh there aren't too many

Cons

I just started here not long ago and already dread going. The training started me off on the wrong foot and made me dislike the experience as a whole. They need to change things.
