Pros

Good exposure to trading environment to form solid understanding with training offered and access to courses, generally ok work-life balance in comparison to competitors, broad spectrum of career opportunities, better than average pension and health insurance schemes plus other benefits (cycle scheme, child care vouchers), company bonus

Cons

Uncompetitive salary in comparison to market rate, junior job grade operators stripped of additional ("discretionary") trading bonus disincentivising the idea that working hard, over and above will be recognised and rewarded, too much middle management clogging up opportunities for progression and too many layers of approval, slow progression of salady and job grade, finance based overseas with no understanding of the bigger picture, lots of management politics

Pros

Early career engineers are given significant ownership and exposure to complex operational challenges. Strong focus on safety, technical development, and collaboration across disciplines. Opportunities to work on high-impact projects, interact with senior leadership, and contribute to decisions affecting major assets and infrastructure.

Cons

Workloads can be demanding, and priorities can shift quickly based on operational needs. Decision-making processes can be slow due to organizational complexity, and geographic mobility may be necessary for certain career opportunities.
