Pros

Pay rate, 401k, and some benefits were decent. Overtime rates at 1.5x hourly rate between 8-12 hours worked and Saturdays from 0-8 hours, 2x hourly rate between 12-16 hours. Anything over 16 hours must be approved from regional manager. 3x hourly rate for Holidays. Safety is the top priority for the company. The safety culture is where if you make a petty safety mistake, your co-workers will report you immediately along with the screaming you will receive. After that, you will develop a company-wide reputation and that would be a cause to let you go. Will pay for NETA exams given that Shermco is a NETA company. Trucks would be provided if you come aboard as a NETA III and/or a IV employee that will be expected to be out on the job on Day 3. Some of the co-workers I worked with are knowledgeable and sharp individuals in the electrical testing field.

Cons

Complicated system for logging in work hours, per diem, and travel rate. I always would receive a phone call every week to fix up any hours, job numbers, rates, etc. Be ready to be called about it during any time either you are in the office or field. As I said some of the co-workers are knowledgeable and sharp, some of them are coworkers have a different way of expressing their love for this company. Some have a very short fuse or a cigarette from their pack, and some people love their job with this company to where they will double-cross and gaslight others without compunction to keep their position and reputation. In my experience, I have one co-worker field engineer that gave me a double standard that liked the other co-workers and singled me out in a bitter fashion because I was new to the company. Another co-worker was an abusive yet toxic project manager I worked with tried to get me fired because I did not match his urgent, military-grade, cookie-cutter work ethic. He constantly yelled at me if there was any petty mistake on my end that supplies a negative impact on my work performance. He told me that he can pick 30 college engineers that have a better work ethic than me and said him and another manager would be happy to pay for a speeding ticket. This was in one conversation because I was a couple minutes late delivering a test set to an ongoing outage. What perplexes me is there are employees with the toxic mentality are employed with the company. Travel is required like any other field service position. Travel is localized but will send you domestically for urgent assignments. If you're a NETA III or IV or a NETA II (depending on the person), you'll get more respect from everyone. The NETA 1's exist just to survive in hopes not a pandemic, recession, or any tragic event happens when they are employed. In addition, be ready to have the tolerance for pain and disrespect. Health insurance is more expensive than other companies. Depending on if you have a family or not. If you plan on advancing for the betterment of the company, you'll risk your current employment and give the impression to management that you are dissatisfied with your current position. I applied and interviewed for an engineering position with another department. After being recommended to stay in my position, I was inspired to move forward with my position and make a career with this company. I was fired a month later. Management turnover is constant. If you are a manager, you should have long-term plans for the betterment of the office(s) you run and assure your employees are satisfied with their position and what they see themselves in the future with Shermco.
