Pros
The professional coatings industry is highly competitive. There is always room for growth in your professional development and career. As long as you are willing to relocate, there are endless career options for you at Sherwin-Williams.
Cons
Running a successful store requires your time. I am not against putting in 50 hours a week, but Sherwin-Williams just does not make it seem worth it. With mandatory overtime every week, I am still only bringing home a $43,000 annual salary. Being placed as an assistant manager in a store that has seen (slightly) declining sales in the last few years, I see very little bonus quarterly payout to aid my salary. Which is unfortunate, because I am still putting in crazy amounts of overtime to run a (roughly) $1.5 million dollar store due to a bare minimum staff. The time I put into my store, is not worth what is being offered to me. I can't tell you how many times I have had contractors ask or say to me, "Why are you the only one here?" "Where is your help?" "You must be the most hardworking girl I know, you're ALWAYS here." I fully understand that I have the power to move up in the company and get myself out of my current situation. But it's a gambling game. There are so many factors besides management that drive sales down in a store. Do I want to put in endless hours for a mediocre salary at best? I've seen the brightest people get burnt out at Sherwin-Williams. And it's not because it's a challenging career. It's because there is little fulfillment gained to the job we are pouring our lives into.
