Pros
- I get to work with some of the smartest Ruby on Rails engineers in Austin so there is a lot of headroom in what you can learn and what skills you can develop. - The engineering team is very remote friendly and most people work remote a few days a week. - The work life balance is pretty good. There's the occasional night or Saturday when something critical blows up but over all we have some great dev ops people who keep things stable and no consistent nights and weekends work. - The business is fundamentally sound, despite the parent company, so good job security inside ShippingEasy. - Small team so you get to move around and work on different parts of the app. - Great CEO. Katie is generally transparent with the company about how the business is doing.
Cons
- Smaller teams means there is less upward career mobility. - Tuesday night deploys aren't the most fun. - Management organization above product and dev doesn't make sense.
