Pros
The work was very flexible, and I was given a lot of independence and autonomy in the way I scheduled and tutored. I was given enough materials and templates to get started and always got a quick response when reaching out for help or extra support. Staff made sure to check in on my students and was understanding on both sides if ever any issues arose. They really look at each tutor's individual strengths and personality traits to match them with students so both sides will have a good experience. I felt like it was important to them to know me as a person. Optional professional development/training sessions were held each quarter, as well as quarterly tutor parties. Signet has fair policies for tutors around cancellations and payment, which is a major benefit you would not get if you were to be working as an independent tutor. I once had a client cancel last-minute for an emergency, and because of the unique situation, Signet paid me for the session anyway. Overall this is a great company and I would recommend working here.
Cons
Scheduling for this type of work can be uncertain, and really is dependent on each student and how far out and consistently they are able to schedule.
Additionally, different engagements require varying prep and follow-up time spent outside of sessions. Especially while tutoring test prep I found this could add up to a lot of extra time. Signet has put some policies in place to help with this but it can get tricky.
