Pros

There is flexibility, the firm pays OT, they have nice office parties

Cons

They seem to play favorites. Certain people get recognized and appreciated for their efforts and certain others don’t. Dogs in the office have gotten out of hand and the fuss becomes disruptive

Silman Response

It is important to understand that Silman does NOT play favorites. We have a very intensive review program and promotions and bonuses are based on performance, not favoritism. As far as dogs in the office, our founder believed in this and brought HIS dog to the office for many years as I do myself. Dogs are known to relieve stress and they are a welcome addition to most progressive offices. Socializing is also an important part of the workplace and we encourage people to spend time interacting with others. Our philosophy of "freedom with responsibility" is one of the values we cherish. We expect people to perform at their highest level, interjecting these short breaks throughout the day. Assuming you are still with the firm, we hope you have found things to improve greatly for you. We would also expect you to express your feelings to one of the principals in the future so we can address your concerns.

Pros

You get to work on some pretty cool projects. Challenging but can feel rewarding too. The people are great and enjoyed the monthly social activities.

Cons

Some projects you work on are small, so you might have a lot of projects you jump back and forth each week, which can be stressful and overwhelming. Mentorship is a bit mixed depending on who you work with. Some managers have a sink or swim approach whereas others are super understanding and want you to learn.
