Pros

The company always gives me challenging tasks and interesting projects. I have successfully transited my career from traditional graphic design to UI/UX design role. A lot of learning opportunities and regular coaching culture by seniors help me see where I see myself in the short-term and long-term. The work environment is flexible and focused. The team is currently a mixture of on-site members and remote members. I haven't experienced any inconvenience as a remote worker living in a different province with a well-prepared system and tools. Simalam has a cool profit sharing, and benefits depend on contributions and years of service. It feels good that the team knows my effort and compensates accordingly.

Cons

You would have to enjoy being out of your comfort zone and proactive. Even juniors can get involved in the big tasks if they desire. It is not stress-free, but you can grow with real-world projects.

Pros

He treats his employees like he treats his tenants and clients aren't treated much better. As others have said the contracts are extremely problematic and place workers at great risk. You're better with your own shop with that kind of arrangement.

Cons

The owner, the pay, etc.

Pros

The current team in place is top shelf, easy going and happy to help. The company is small ( 4 full time members ), so you get to wear a lot of hats and have a lot of involvement with each facet of a project which is cool. The team is really dedicated to quality and a profit sharing model is in place to reward the dedication. Cool projects using the latest tech. From day one, I started work on a 6 month web application using React/Redux, powered by a super fast API that will help keep Toronto's waterways safer. Cool perks. Shortly after I started, the company decided to rent a house in the Azores for nearly a month to work and play from there. You don't hear of many company's that will do that. Another benefit of such a small team.

Cons

I wouldn't recommend this company to a junior developer / designer at the moment. As the team is so small, an excessive amount of training and testing just isn't possible when things get really busy.
