Pros
- Competitive salary, nearly triple my previous earnings - Fully remote position offering great flexibility - Initial assurance from management about valuing adaptability and cultural fit over extensive experience
Cons
I joined SBP Holdings/Singer with high hopes, having been offered a fully remote position with a substantial salary increase. Although slightly underqualified, the hiring managers assured me that adaptability and cultural fit were more critical than extensive experience. I was transparent about my experience, and they seemed confident I could succeed. However, after a 47 days, I received a sudden call from my manager while I was at the gym, informing me that my position was being terminated. They cited the need for someone with more experience, which was a stark contrast to the initial reassurances I received. Despite my efforts to attend all meetings, take on extra training, and seek guidance from team members, I never received any feedback or indication that I was falling short of expectations. The abrupt termination was disheartening and disrupted my plans and goals, which had become achievable with this position. When I reached out to the recruiter who set me up with this position, he informed me that multiple candidates had experienced the same abrupt terminations and, as a result, no longer worked with the company. Overall, while the opportunity seemed promising, the lack of communication and support from management and the recurring pattern of sudden terminations ultimately turned this experience into a significant disappointment.
