Pros

I couldn't ask for a better work environment than the one at Singlebrook. I've never worked for a company that is so appreciative of employee contributions and dedicated to employee and client happiness. As a company, Singlebrook values craftsmanship, great design and programming, happiness, and benefiting the community—and every project, whether client or internal, serves to support these endeavors. There is a sense of community and teamwork at Singlebrook, and a sense of mentorship and learning, that extends beyond typical workplace interactions. From working with other developers to participating in company "Lunchtime Learning" sessions, I continuously gained knowledge from my coworkers, all of whom are skilled at their respective crafts, be it web design, Drupal programming, Rails development, etc. (Weekly paid Game Time, happy hours and holiday celebrations, and monthly company lunches didn't hurt, either!). If you are looking for opportunities to expand your skills and try new technologies, you'll have plenty of opportunities to do so.

Cons

Singlebrook is currently a smaller company, . However, I'm confident that this company is growing and expanding continuously, and as the company grows, so will its ability to have a positive social and environmental impact through its clients and its products.

Pros

They are visible in the community

Cons

too many to list. Essentially Ithaca and Central NY is a very small field, and Simpletons takes advantage of this. My best advice to anyone considering working for them: 1) be prepared to be chewed out (could be obvious or subtle). 2) be prepared to make less..... Ithaca doesn't consider $35-45k the "big" bucks for nothing..... 3) be prepared to have your name blacklisted from the other tech employers (which could also include CU, depending upon the dept - but CU pays cheap too) and finally, 4 - understand working here is a band-aid situation - cobble together some bus fare and head out to Philly or NYC - yes, its a 6-8 hr bus ride one way and yes it does suck - BUT - you will actually make decent money and will be able to do work that you can put on your resume, and actually be proud of the career you are in.
