Pros

1. Small team, everyone is exposed to multiple aspects of the projects done i.e., as an intern I already had the opportunity to present to the C-suite 2. Meritocratic culture and flat structure means that you are never waiting for someone else to move on to get a promotion, You can determine your own path - some have moved through 6 seniorities in as little as 4 years 3. Highly competitive remuneration, especially relative to South African opportunities 4. Heavy focus on developing and mentoring those in the team 5. Very entrepreneurial i.e., any idea from any seniority is heard 6. Changing culture i.e., a converted effort has been put in over the last 2 years to make the "consulting" lifestyle at the firm more sustainable

Cons

1. Incredibly difficult to get into - they have a relentless, zero tolerance, on hiring to talent recruit less than 1% of applicants and applicants will be subject to multiple rounds of interviews 2. Consulting does require longer hours and more commitment than most professions. You would need to be very intentional about your work-life balance but it is possible and sustainable

Pros

I had a great experience during my internship at Singular. From the very beginning, I was given real responsibility and worked directly with clients, which made me feel like a genuine part of the team rather than just an observer. The work was fast-paced and intellectually demanding, with a steep learning curve that pushed me to develop quickly. What stood out to me most was the intersection between consulting and private equity, which made the work especially engaging. The topics and clients were genuinely interesting and varied, which kept things fresh throughout the internship. On top of that, the team was extremely supportive and always willing to help, creating a collaborative and open environment that made it easy to ask questions and learn.

Cons

I genuinely have no cons.
