Pros

1) Potentially impactful Mission 2) Located in downtown San Francisco

Cons

1)The company is plagued with the kind of inner office politics you would normally see at a company 10x the size. 2) Despite being advertised as fin-tech, there is a lack of financial and technological expertise 3) Base compensation is severely below market. 4) Company Morale is beyond depressing.

Pros

-Great mission of wanting to help students go to college. -There are/were a lot of smart, passionate, and awesome people at Sixup that genuinely believe in the mission.

Cons

The company is ran by some pretty terrible people. They tend to lie to people to get them in the door promising things like salary bumps, control, or stock options in the 'near' future. And one you get suckered into joining, you will eventually come to understand why Sixup has such awful reviews. Management does not respect their fellow employees nor do they value their work. Trying to get your opinions across to management, even if you know better on whatever the topic may be, is like try to move a mountain. Not to mention there's a good chance you'll get yelled at in the process. They are just not reasonable nor logical people and will make choices that makes zero sense. For all of these reasons and more, I left Sixup and adding myself to their insane turn over rate. A word to the wise - unless all of management is replaced, you should just look elsewhere even if are desperate for a new job, it's just not worth it.
