Pros
Gave me the experience I need to get my new job which pays FAR more and causes me not even half the amount of stress.
Cons
Working at Skiddle was a deeply disappointing experience. While the company brands itself as a fun and dynamic place to work, the reality is far from it. Staff are significantly underpaid for the work expected, and there's a lack of transparency and support from upper management. There is absolutely no room for progression or career growth. Management seems more focused on maintaining the status quo rather than fostering talent or developing employees. It quickly became clear that they were more interested in pushing me out than offering any support or opportunity for advancement. More seriously, the company has a deeply troubling attitude toward misconduct and harassment. When I raised concerns about inappropriate behavior, not only were they dismissed by HR and management, but I was made to feel like I was the problem. Victim-blaming was the default response, and rather than support or investigate properly, I was issued with a disciplinary - The lack of empathy, accountability, or even basic safeguarding procedures was shocking. Staff parties, which should be about team bonding, often end up feeling uncomfortable and inappropriate - with older male staff/ management using them as an opportunity to behave in ways that cross professional boundaries. Overall, the environment at Skiddle is toxic, with little to no accountability. I would not recommend working here, especially to those who value professionalism, safety, and respect in the workplace.
Pros
Most of the staff are friendly and make an effort to get to know you. The company is flexible in terms of working locations, offering a better work/life balance than having to be office based 5 days a week. Training opportunities are regularly offered to all staff. There are opportunities to get tickets to events and everyone is passionate about music and the events industry.
Cons
The company is run like a boys club; only those deemed worthy are acknowledged and it is clear there are favourites. Tensions can get high between the two CEOs, which trickles down to all staff and leads to people treading on eggshells in the office. The severe lack of communication, not only across departments, but from certain department heads to their team, is shocking and leaves staff uninformed and floundering. With this lack of communication comes a culture of anxiety and fear; staff do not know where they stand and what is happening, management is inconsistent across the business and staff are expected to drop everything and change plans based on the whims of a CEO. There is a real lack of respect from some management and ideas are not welcomed, instead simply shut down. Staff are treated as disposable with no concern for wellbeing. Deadlines do not exist at Skiddle, staff's workload is not respected and work is very often (if not always) delegated at the last minute. The lack of safeguarding to report any issues with management or for any whistleblowing is incredibly concerning.
