People there are incredible, very passionate. The people make the studio.
Great for the short term, use the studio as your stepping stone to others.
Cons
The flat hierarchy method the studio uses doesn’t work. They make decisions on everything that happens, leaving all middle management feel redundant. They say they have an open door policy, but they actually don’t.
The development process on their indie title was incredibly difficult since one of the founders was also the creative director. Large changes In the development cycle happened weekly. No one enjoyed working on that project. No one was recognized after development completed.
In the entire time that I was there (3+ years), I could count the number of promotions that happened in the studio with 1 hand. Promotions don’t happen here, you mostly come in the studio the same position that you leave in.
If they have anything against an employee, there is no road to redemption. They don’t lay off or terminate employees. They let your contract expire with little warning or move you into a position that you have no desire to continue working in.
