Pros

Wonderful people and an incredible product.

Cons

Tried to grow too far too fast, too many executives and not enough "doers".

Pros

Supportive team - good benefits - flexible remote work - family comes first.

Cons

Easy to burnout with so much work to be done but not enough hands on deck to accomplish the goals.

Pros

• Incredible product with a thriving community of customers • Slightly above average salary and solid benefits • Some of the most talented and passionate people I have ever worked with (yet unfortunately many were laid off)

Cons

I have worked in very similar roles, but have never in my life been as stressed as I was during my time at Slumberkins (as in had to get on anti-depressants for the first time in my life, stressed). Before my role was impacted, the company had already been through 2 rounds of layoffs without replacing staff and decided to keep at the same level of production with significantly less hands to do the work. Leadership was very detached from the day to day efforts but would jump in and micro manage in a panic if things weren't up to their expectations. There was a lot of room for improvement and "righting the ship" after continuous shortfalls, but leadership wouldn't listen to the advice of anyone doing the work or give the staff the resources to explore new solutions. It seems like their only solution to problems is more rounds of layoffs. My role at Slumberkins was an absolute dream job so I ignored the warning signs before joining the team, only to be faced with almost the entire marketing team being sacked and outsourced. It's so unfortunate that a company that does incredible work in advocating for early emotional learning is actively running their employees mental health into the ground.
