Pros

Easy access to head office; Free parking for employees, though I suspect this will change in the future and will end up being a taxable benefit;

Cons

No advancement opportunities unless you are related to one of the executives; No significant pay increases, barely above cost of living; When someone leaves as people do constantly, you are assigned additional work to cover. Fine for the short term but the last time this affected me, this "additional work load" lasted three years with no acknowledgement of financial "Thank you"!!!!!!!; Bonuses are based on over all corporate/employee objectives which includes employee retention! This is a joke. They will claim they didn't meet their corporate objectives so the percentage paid out to the workers is far less yet the executives bonuses are unbelievably high for a company who didn't meet their objectives.!! Shouldn't more of the bonus money go to the employees that actually stayed???; Senior management is exceptionally knowledgeable but instead of mentoring their team they micro-manage; Overtime is expected every night, that is why HR brings in dinner at 7pm to ensure people eat and continue on with productivity; Benefits are less than industry standard; No RRSP or matching, even though this is brought up by employees at every Town Hall; You can't be proactive when you are constantly putting out fires.

Pros

- Laid back informal structure (but still efficient) - Found the hours to be good and regular - Great management (good people that know what they are doing) - Generally a smart and good bunch of employees - Past and current CEO are experts and also good natured with stellar (well liked by all from what I have seen) - Great HR staff - Alot going on future (development)

Cons

- would also say that growth opportunities are limited and promotions are not structured as you find in other fields - no RRSP match (although I do not care about this)

Pros

There are some good people to work with who you can learn from Decent training is provided for most positions Financial educational assistance provided

Cons

Absolutely awful culture Long hours are expected every day Taking your vacation is frowned upon and a frustrating process Work life balance isn't possible if you want to have a future there They feel they own you Half hearted attempts at things like fitness programs fall short of useful Salary is not competitive No pension or long term incentives Benefits offered are the bare minimum and have been scaled back in recent years Very few opportunities to move up Management spends an absurd amount of time babysitting grown men and women Degrading attempts to blame others is the norm Favouritism and nepotism are rampant Be prepared to be scolded for what others are commended for - double standards are ridiculous Everyone is in a constant state of panic for what inevitably turns out to be nothing urgent at all No opportunities to actually make decisions or use common sense Essentially a sweat shop where you're expected to be quiet for as long as humanly possible and do mindless work
