Pros

Some of the people you work with can be genuinely lovely people, I’m glad to have met some of the people there as I feel I have friends for a long time.

Cons

Working for instasmile has been one big fever dream. Upper management can’t let a single idea run it’s course, there’s a magpie mentality that means whatever seems amazing one week can change at the drop of a hat and the company goes in the opposite direction. Most things can be running smoothly for a couple of weeks until everything has to change. This includes adding heavy discounts in moments of panic, changes to the website that need to be set live in the next 12 hours and just general reactive tactics that have been done time and time again without anyone putting a stop to it. There’s a steady stream of employees leaving instasmile across all departments, the staff retention is awful and there seems to be new faces every week. Do not take the fake positive reviews as genuine, they were requested by HR as a lot of honest reviews were added continuously and were mostly negative. There’s never a true feeling of job security at instasmile, it always feels like something shady is going on behind the scenes. Unfortunately it’s pretty likely that the company is heading for liquidation like it has a number of times before. It seems like upper management think the team is oblivious to what is going on, but there’s a lot of people company wide who are suspicious of what’s going on behind closed doors.

Pros

Free parking, flexible start/finish times, good pay.

Cons

- This is a small business so there are no learning and development programmes/training opportunities etc. If you're wanting to learn, develop skills and progress in your career this is not the place. - Mass redundancies across the business, including super talented team members, came as a real shock to everybody and created a horrible working atmosphere. Nobody knew who was next, and after asking HR if my job was safe the response was 'yes for now', but with no guarantee past the next 3 months as they didn't know what the business would look like in the future. - No focus on staff wellbeing. No benefits or perks. An 'Engagement Committee' was set up to improve staff wellbeing however this lasted a few months before it disappeared and posters mentioning it took down. Office rules are printed out and stuck on walls and in the kitchen.
