Pros

I am aware that if we speak very positively about something, it does not seem sincere. But regardless, my experience is still very good. Maybe this is also due to the fact that I have not worked in an office environment before, but I think it is more due to the kind of people I work with. I don't know how it is in other places within the company (as we have many divisions, teams, offices) but everyone was always helpful and kind to me, regardless of job title. I started with very little experience, but I never felt that I was left on my own to complete my tasks. I think it's very important to get the right amount of help, because without it, it would still be possible to grow, but it would be much more difficult and it would take longer. All in all, I think that Smithers is definitely worth a try and who knows, you might end up liking it and staying here for a while... :)

Cons

The review would not be authentic if I were satisfied with everything, so I guess I have to find some cons. This is unlikely to be relevant to anyone else, but in my case, traveling (driving) sometimes takes a lot of time. I have to be in the office 3 times a week, which I actually really like, but the journey to Leatherhead can be a nightmare. The other thing I would highlight is the aircon. Sometimes even on hot summer days I have to put on my jacket, although the people sitting next to me are still hot, so maybe it's only me after all.

Pros

There were a few nice coworkers that genuinely wanted to make things better, but that can’t outweigh the cons.

Cons

Benefits are lacking, especially not a competitive PTO policy. Overall the culture is very much as though everyone is on pins and needles just looking out for their own self-interest, so there’s very little genuine team support. It’s a privately owned company and management makes no pretense about their utter lack of transparency. One minute they’re talking about how strong the pipeline is and the next they’re laying off >10% of the division. Not to mention that they’re not up front in the hiring process about requirements to be on-call after hours.
