Pros

The founder and CEO, Crystal Grave, is the reason I like working at Snappening. Crystal is concise and organized, while being understanding and open to conversation. Most of the time I am working on my own or one on one with Crystal, so balancing our work relationship is important. She often asks me of my opinion and how she and the company can improve our workflow. Knowing I have a voice in making Snappening and my job better gives me a sense of ownership and pushes me to be better. I enjoy having a part-time job that is interesting without an abrupt learning curve. It's something I can pick up and put back down throughout my busy week. When I first started, there were employee manuals and efficient resources that helped me quickly navigate my job.

Cons

Business Operations & Data Specialist is my title - and that involves a lot of emailing, profile updating and just all around computer time. While I am well suited to be on the computer for a good chunk of time, I recognize that this could be tiresome for others.

Pros

I worked as a graphic design intern the summer of 2014 and then at the end of my internship, I was offered a position to do freelance work while I continued my education. As an intern, I was able to work remotely and meet once a week in person to do meetings and submit projects. This was a wonderful opportunity for me to learn time management, self leadership, and project presentation skills. Pros for my internship: great first job intern experience, good opportunity to work from home, got some experience working in a co-op office setting, was able to work one on one with Crystal. As far as freelance work goes, I was granted a lot of freedom and flexible due dates. She was pretty understanding of my time. Project ideas were often concise in direction and communication was clear. I was granted a lot of creative freedom from time to time, otherwise the idea was communicated clearly enough that I felt comfortable running with the concept presented to me. Through Crystal, I was also able to network and do some collaborative work with other small businesses and organizations. Overall, it was a great opportunity to allow me to work from home while still stretching my design skills to meet the needs of the company. I also learned a ton about business from Crystal, and she remains to be someone with a work ethic worth admiring.

Cons

Only cons were that my internship was unpaid, and at times, the workload can get time consuming. However, I did work remotely so I was able to easily work and earn money outside of that. I also got college credit as well. Once my internship was over, I did get a paid freelance contract so that did help. As far as time consuming, it’s a schedule to adjust to. Crystal is very much a go getter, so it wasn’t uncommon to get projects and ideas thrown my way any time day or night. She was always very conscious and added that there was no rush usually. I also really enjoyed the work I got to do so I almost always wanted to get to work as soon as I got it. But I also know that not everyone operates that way necessarily.

Pros

The online atmosphere of this internship was a really great learning experience. Although the work was all remote and done independently there was no shortage of assistance when questions came up. Through the internship the CEO (Crystal Grave) made sure that skills were developed that will help me in my future career path, as well as in future learning experiences.

Cons

I would have liked to work in an office setting a little bit more. Although the flexibility of working from home was nice, when I did get a chance to work in person with Crystal it was a very enjoyable experience. I think it's important to have this in person interaction more than just 1 hour a week during the weekly check in.
