Pros

In the initial months, whether entering as a leader or a newly hired employee, one is afforded a sense of latitude and autonomy that can feel empowering. The experience, for those who endure, can cultivate an unusual degree of resilience and sharpen survival instincts rarely encountered in professional environments.

Cons

Do not be deceived into believing that perseverance, extra effort, or loyalty will reliably translate into advancement. The narrative of 'impressing management today, trying harder tomorrow, and eventually being rewarded with a promotion or increment' is a recurring mirage. Promises extended during interviews - be they compensation adjustments or career progression - often remain unfulfilled. For those who adhere to integrity and decline to endorse toxic dynamics, repercussions can be swift and disheartening. Instead of genuine growth, many employees find themselves ensnared in a cycle of self-doubt, perpetually reminded of minor missteps, which become convenient justifications for withholding previously assured promotions or compensation. Over time, the organizational climate may deteriorate from superficially collegial to openly demeaning. It is not uncommon for members of leadership to employ language and tones that no professional environment should normalize - words that corrode dignity, compromise self-respect, and reduce even accomplished practitioners to feeling like undervalued interns. Disturbingly, individuals known for toxic behavior are often insulated and, in some cases, elevated. Meanwhile, those who attempt to voice legitimate concerns may find themselves marginalized or retaliated against. A pervasive 'hire-and-fire' ethos exists: one may be celebrated on Monday and inexplicably locked out of communication systems on Tuesday, absent any transparent rationale. Principles such as respect, equity, and professional integrity are inconsistent at best, and at times absent altogether.

Pros

Most team members are hardworking and capable.

Cons

The culture set at the ownership level is toxic, with poor communication and consistently low morale across the organization. Expectations are unclear and frequently shift, while accountability is inconsistently applied. There is a disconnect between responsibility and authority, with individuals held accountable for outcomes they do not have control over, making success difficult to achieve or sustain. Compensation does not align with the level of expectation and workload. There have also been instances of unprofessional and inappropriate comments at the ownership level that contribute to an uncomfortable and at times concerning workplace environment.
