Pros
Careful German management has allowed the company to thrive since its founding in the late 20th century. The original product, Adabas database, is still the fastest mainframe database, and widely used by large corporations and government. This stability has allowed for acquisitions of new technology and companies to keep pace with newer companies. I've had the same job here for twenty years but I've learned dozens of different products and languages in that time.
Cons
There are challenges in maintaining a worldwide team of developers, marketing and support for a worldwide customer base. This isn't much different from any other large software company though.
