Pros
awesome product fun people to work with lunch 2 times a week
Cons
the sales process is not really a process, infact it really isnt selling, its pressuring your customer into buying today with a big enough discount. The only thing management cares about is "how can we get this deal in faster" and usually the only suggestion they have is "well give them a discount, or a free tool to buy today." There is no Sales training on how to be a better salesrep, outside of MAKE MORE DIALS, CALL YOUR CUSTOMERS EVERY SINGLE DAY. Managers and VPs dont care about the end user, they just want to get the sale the fastest way possible and move on to the next deal. Dont think about going on vacation end of the week month or quarter - you are staying late and regardless of if you are above quota or not, they will always want you to stay and make you feel like you have not done enough for the company. Work life balance is terrible. even if you need to run an errand during the day my manager is always texting me and asking when I was going to come back. The Managers and VP's think every rep is replaceable, so they dont truly invest in their reps, and turnover is so high I can understand why they think that. If you love working in a high pressure, low reward environment with managers directors and VPs who will micromanage the hell out of you, then solar winds is the perfect place for you. Think call center, with slightly better pay. ($35K base and $35K on target plan)
