Pros

New marketing leadership may bring a fresh perspective and energy to the team. Many of my coworkers were genuinely wonderful, and I had a couple of great managers. The pay was pretty decent, even though promotions were hard to come by. They do have a massive customer base and a good reputation for their legacy products.

Cons

SolarWinds is still struggling to find its footing in a changing market. They are attempting to move into the observability space, but the product and messaging are confusing to customers. The sluggish pace of product development is extremely concerning, and they are rapidly running out of runway to secure market share. The saas product is woefully underdeveloped still, two years after launch. Customers who buy it are at high risk for churn, and it's not competitive in the market at all. It's very difficult to make progress on anything due to information silos, egos, and death by process and policy. PMMs frequently stall projects because of a failure to complete tasks, which comes with zero accountability. Their marketing playbook has not evolved, and even simple things like web personalization isn't possible because of the massive amounts of tech debt. Forget trying to get accurate numbers or data from Salesforce—it's not possible.

At SolarWinds we continue to evolve and simplify our products to support our customers, just as we have for the last 25 years directly based on feedback from our THWACK community of over 200k registered users. At SolarWinds, we value collaboration and accountability. We appreciate your concerns, and we continuously drive change to improve visibility and support the business.

Pros

Amazing office space in Charlotte with a strong emphasis on work-life balance. There are plenty of social events and networking opportunities that help employees stay engaged and build relationships across different business units. The recent IT reorganization has created a unique opportunity to participate in system and process design initiatives. While this level of change and transformation may not appeal to everyone, it offers valuable experience for those who enjoy shaping new processes and driving organizational improvements. I am optimistic about the direction of the organization and confident in the vision and leadership of the new IT management team.

Cons

Career advancement opportunities can sometimes feel limited within a satellite office environment, and promotion paths are not always clearly defined. Employees seeking long-term growth may benefit from having proactive career development conversations with leadership. The recent IT reorganization has introduced a period of transition, resulting in some uncertainty and lower morale across parts of the organization. The department is currently in a rebuilding phase, and new employees should expect to contribute to the implementation of new processes, systems, and ways of working. Compensation appears to be somewhat below market rates for certain roles, which may be a consideration for candidates prioritizing salary growth.
