Pros

I started working at a hospital full-time as soon as I was finished with my education, and even though I love my job and felt grateful to have a job, I started feeling burn out after a couple years. Feeling that I was already over my nursing job was a scary feeling because I had already put so much effort into it, and I still loved the satisfaction I got from nursing. I figured it was time for a change of pace and shopped around for some agencies to become a traveling nurse. That’s when I stumbled across Soliant. It honestly seemed too good to be true and I was apprehensive about applying, but given my mental state I figured that taking a leap of faith couldn’t be the worst thing I could possibly do to myself. I am so glad I took that leap, because Soliant has given me the freedom I need to be happy in my career. Being able to build my own schedule, travel to new locations, and meet new people keeps me from feeling like my life has stopped moving forward. My work-life balance is excellent, I have time to do all the things I didn’t get to do from being so busy with school and work, and I’m making a great income too. I just wish that I thought of being a travel nurse sooner, but maybe I wouldn’t have appreciated it as much if I hadn’t first experienced the alternatives.

Cons

The only con is that there are times when there simply isn’t enough work to put you on the schedule for the hours you’d ideally like to be working. I haven’t come across the issue too many times myself, but it’s a reality that needs to be addressed.

Pros

Met some good friends and bonded over shared trauma

Cons

The salary is a misery, there are absolutely no incentives starting at 2% commission - for about a year, commission per month will be about $100 at the very best and yet they lie about first year OTE being about $15k. You’re also encouraged and expected to work over 40 hours a week even though there’s absolutely no incentives to do so and berated when you work what you should: The company has insanely high attrition and turnover rates. The majority of the company is under a year and actively trying to leave. One of their biggest problem is management; the majority of managers should not be in their positions. There’s a toxic culture of pettiness and arrogance. Do not expect to grow professionally at all-I was doing the exact same job as a manager who had been there for almost 10 years. Do not expect to feel supported or heard by any of the higher ups-they actively implements an alarming amount of changes without asking AEs first and then, when they don’t work, they make even more changes. Overall, if you can avoid working at this company, you should. It is a horrible place that preys on new graduates that have limited opportunities.
