Pros

Opportunity to work on established financial technology products.

Cons

I worked at the company for several years and ultimately decided to leave due to concerns around leadership direction and organizational culture. One of the biggest challenges was the leadership style of the CTO. Rather than being viewed as a go-to technology leader who could inspire teams and provide a clear product and engineering vision, interactions often felt highly task-oriented and transactional. There was limited focus on building an inclusive engineering culture or fostering collaboration across teams. A recurring concern was the lack of a clearly communicated technology roadmap. Teams frequently found themselves reacting to short-term priorities instead of working toward a well-defined long-term strategy. This created uncertainty and made it difficult for employees to understand how their work contributed to the company's future direction. There also appeared to be significant reliance on third-party vendors for key initiatives, which sometimes resulted in internal teams feeling disconnected from important decisions and reduced opportunities for employees to contribute strategically. Many meetings seemed to focus on operational or administrative topics rather than product innovation, technology advancement, customer value, or engineering excellence. Employees often looked for more meaningful discussions around product development, technical challenges, and future growth plans. The situation became more concerning as layoffs began, which further impacted morale and confidence across the organization. Communication during this period could have been more transparent and reassuring.

Pros

Good place to learn if you’re proactive and willing to take initiative Some teams offer flexibility in how work gets done

Cons

There has been a noticeable level of leadership turnover over a relatively short period, which has impacted stability and continuity across teams. The current approach within technology leadership can at times feel more focused on task execution than on people management, coaching, and team development, which may be affecting morale in certain areas. There also appears to be a gap between the company’s stated “employee first” philosophy and the day-to-day employee experience. Many employees have expressed interest in more transparent and anonymous ways to share feedback, though it’s not always clear how that feedback is being captured or addressed. HR support, particularly from the Minneapolis team can feel stretched at times, with opportunities to improve responsiveness and communication, especially during periods of leadership change when employees are seeking more confidential feedback options.
