Pros

Relatively speaking, a good and extensive selection of benefits although many are standard but a good number are not too easy to find elsewhere like paid volunteer days. 401 matches, training opportunities, tuition assistance and good employee wellness program is available. Telecommuting options, flex scheduling and compressed workweek is a huge plus to work here but these perks are not evenly distributed throughout the company and it depends where you work in it and who the head of the department is and if they will let these perks be utilized. In addition, some key executives on the top floor are actually accessible. Some are kind and interested in how you are doing and employees can approach and have a chance to voice concerns with some of the company leaders. The pay is typically below what you can find elsewhere but the benefits help balance all of that.

Cons

The company experienced some loss of business over the past year and has had to layoff people for the first time in its history. That seemed to trigger a push to change the company too and the transition is not going very well. Solix had always been about bringing people in who fit the culture-which included treating people kindly and professionally. A wave of new executives coming in over the past year are completely opposite the Solix culture. There is a growing rift in the company and a good part of that has to do with how the new executives are treating the people who have been here--not good. It's one thing to make changes but there is a way to do it and many people have experienced rather nasty treatment. The 'new' Solix, based on the behavior of new executives and how people are literally spoken to in a poor manner as well as poorly managed has hurt morale --as how the increasingly lack of communication to the rank and file on what is going on is making the majority of people here unable to focus on work and get resentful. As far as job advancement: it's limited. More limited than I have seen at other companies. There is not a lot of room to move up or even across the company and what positions are open are only going to newcomers. A few departments do try to give people a shot internally but that's becoming rare.
