Pros

They had a strong focus on safety. It was made a top priority. If they didn't train on anything else, they offered multiple learning opportunities for safety.

Cons

I worked in a management position within a plant. I had it better off than the hourly workforce, but it was still bad. They would constantly start new programs and initiatives without completing the ones they'd already started. Sometimes we'd plan for things, but the mission would be aborted as soon as we got to the execution stage. Every company has their fair share of last minute redirection, but I cannot tell you a project that we actually completed from start to finish. The management team would also like for you to believe that you have a voice, but that's not true. I've sat in meetings with plant managers and division managers and advocated for the people, but it was not taken into consideration. It was actually frowned upon. They would purposely hire people externally before considering anyone internally. They did not want to go through the trouble of back filling positions so they always hired externally. It is also frustrating to see that people were not allowed to be promoted/moved to another department because too many people from that department had already been promoted and "the business can't afford that." When people left the company, I have heard leaders actually say, "Well, that's $xx.xx, we're saving on that salary." Employees who had been with the company 10+ years have started to resign because of the workload and lack of advancement opportunities.
