Pros

Best reasons: You want to live in Japan, and you are comfortable working at a steady job with little possibility for career advancement. Travel, especially to Japan is common at Sony. For someone who has family in Japan, Sony is a good company to work for.

Cons

Extreme politics between groups and corporations within the Sony umbrella. Non Japanese corporations and employees are treated as second class. The standard project life cycle is the following: 1) Non Japanese group develops technology, iterating through releases until there is some success, either technical, or sales. 2) Japanese group identifies the successful project, transfers/consumes the knowledge, and responsibility. 3) Original development group is disbanded, or left to fend for itself on what ever new project it can muster.
