Pros

You get to be a part of something really exciting and unique. I loved being on set for the filming of games, meeting so many talented people, and learning more about motion capture. Free games and swag. They seem to treat their higher level employees very well. Good work/life balance. Basically, if you are able to find a stable position there, it is probably much easier than being entry level.

Cons

As a production assistant, management was very cavalier with hiring and firing. I was there for one year and watched at least 5 PAs be hired then let go within weeks or months, sometimes for things as simple as having the wrong personality or not learning fast enough. They tell you during the interview that they're happy to help newcomers learn, however in reality they get frustrated when you haven't picked up a completely new task immediately with almost no training. Talking to one manager in particular often was very stressful because they were quite harsh and rude at times. I have a disability and was warned by coworkers not to tell management, which I find concerning. Employees should be able to trust their employers to support them.

Pros

Good culture in my department. Positive, supportive, professional. Work life balance has improved. Generally less crunch culture, although overtime hasn't completely disappeared. It happens but in my view the company does seem to be making efforts to avoid crunch as much as possible. Benefits are good.

Cons

Culture depends on the team. It's a big company and sometimes you may work with different departments, studios or teams who aren't supportive or professional. Can take a long time for the company to deal with problematic employees. Decision making from company leadership can be baffling. Limited opportunities for advancement. This has always been true, but it has gotten worse due to the economy and a certain administration. Pay could be better.
