Pros
Working with nonprofits is fulfilling
Cons
Micro-management (be prepared to be taught how to write an email even if you have master degrees or decades of experience), you will be promised opportunities for growth, but you will end up doing errands on your own gas, taking meeting minutes, and basically being a secretary even if that isn’t your title. You’ll be forced to take unpaid leave even if you have PTO if it’s a time that the owner thinks is inconvenient (despite months of notice). Very toxic work environment. Ask how many employees have come and gone since the doors to the business opened. It’s very telling.
