Pros
The job is easy. The pay is higher than the average job in Indiana. Retirement benefits are premium.
Cons
The job is easy, but management makes it hard. The goal posts are constantly being moved. There's a reason why METRA considerers South Shore a bumpkin railroad. Management doesn't know what they are doing, and if they do, their ethics and logic are nonsense. They make students take an exam but you have to learn 90 miles of speeds, even though we aren't engineers. It's ridiculous. If you fail, you're stonewalled and thrown away. The union is weak and cozies up to management way too closely. We may be getting paid a lot (considering it's Indiana) but only those who desperately need this job will find anything beneficial about it. Autistic people can pass the test because they are good at retaining information, but they are abysmal on the job. Do not recommend.
