Going Downhill and may be going to sell - Senior Technical Specialist Southern California Edison Employee Review

Pros

Decent salary (industry standard) and benefits. This may change if the company is sold.

Cons

The rumor is that the company will get sold in the next few years. This is the only explanation for bringing in Baine for the latest round of lay-offs. Lay-offs have included managers with decades of experience, leaving behind gaps in expertise that cannot be covered. SCE may also be trying to cover for expensive blunders at SONGS and with Edison Mission Energy. Employees are being stretched extremely thin and workloads are increasing exponentially. The company gives lip service to safety and employee satisfaction but the management style is paranoid. Slip-ups by management tend to be blamed on line employees. The situation for union workers is much better.

Pros

Pay, they pay very well. Interesting work and SOME very sharp people.

Cons

The department I was in was very toxic. Company claims to be values based but that is a joke. The "leaders" in my OU were abusive and have been reported to HR multiple times by many people. Nothing was ever done. The entire company isn't toxic, its too bad that some of the areas are.
