Pros
The department I worked in had a great team mentality, more like a family than a place of work. We argued like siblings, but at the end of the day we forgave each other.
Cons
The salary was horrible. With a Ph.D. and student loans to repay it was impossible to live off that salary while saving for retirement and paying off student loans. Also, there had not been a pay raise in 6 or 7 years with no hopes of one in the near future.
