Pros

numerous prep times; team atmosphere; access to professional development; lot's of social events for staff; like a family; principal and other admin are very understanding and approachable; clear vision for the future; access to many teaching resources; some of my colleagues have become lifelong friends; excited about the brand new additional school building that is being built; this is a place to build your career; junior school team has very strong staff morale

Cons

Southpointe does not tolerate unethical behaviour of staff. If you are NOT professional, don't apply. This is ONLY A CON if you are looking for a job with very low standards, for the rest of us as employees, we see this as a PRO not a CON!

Pros

Good salary, great lunch, mostly kind co-workers, wonderful students

Cons

Unfortunately, the leadership team, from the Junior School Principal to the Head of School and Deputy Head, creates an environment that is difficult to thrive in unless you are firmly in their good graces. Strong, experienced professionals are quietly pushed out, and it rarely has anything to do with actual job performance. If, for whatever reason, the administration takes a personal dislike to you, expect to be managed out through micromanagement, passive-aggressive feedback, and a slow erosion of your confidence. Decision-making at the top feels driven by image and revenue rather than genuine student welfare. You get the sense that the priority is how things look to prospective families, not what is actually best for the kids in the classrooms. The Admissions office is no better. The admissions person comes across as charming and polished to prospective families, but colleagues quickly learn that the friendliness does not extend behind closed doors. Expect two-faced behaviour. The culture of micromanagement is exhausting. There is very little professional trust extended to teachers, which makes it hard to do your best work. Not to mention the traffic jam commuting through the tunnel each day.
