Pros

I'm over the lunches. Benefits used to be amazing. And important. That's when we had a business which looked like it knew where it was going, then we got a new CEO.

Cons

Mission has gone. Vision is not important and now today, job losses. Not through Covid apparently, just because they want to save money. Our founder has apparently been involved in the process, but feel his mission has been hijacked by someone with no real education understanding and no interest in anything other than their own self promotion. A shame to see what could have been and watch it now destroyed.

Pros

Sparx is an education research and technology company that is facing an exciting challenge: figure out the best way to teach maths and help school teachers use this to get the best out of their students. I couldn't have wished for a better job. - Meaningful work every day - Great mix of people. It's not just your standard tech company as we have content writers and editors, examiners, video and games developers. - A scientific, data-driven approach to teaching mathematics - People here really care about the students who are using Sparx and want them to succeed - it's not about making a quick buck - We work closely with schools. Can work in education without being a teacher - Other companies in the same group/building (Oxygen House) have a diverse and interesting mix of social enterprise projects: smart cities, solar power, sustainable building... - Tasty lunches and home baking provided every day! - Fun company events, green travel scheme, all-round good culture

Cons

- Sparx is changing fast and seeing a few growing pains as it does, but nothing insurmountable. - I think working at Oxygen House has spoiled me for other jobs in the future.
