Spectrum Health is a large organization that has a lot of potential for movement within the organization. The health insurance benefits are essentially free if you sign up for health lifestyles.
Cons
Spectrum Health has a culture problem and a HR problem. It is an organization that is extremely siloed with each department having their own unique culture - for better or for worse. Be very careful in choosing the department you go into, as it can make or break you regardless of how talented of an employee you are. People scheming for the job of others is a common occurrence in many areas, so you can never truly be comfortable or fully trust anyone. If you have left the organization, good luck getting back in. HR seems to do whatever it takes to ensure that those who have left either by resignation, being fired, or being laid off are never welcome back into the pearly gates of Spectrum Health. They seem to have the illogical belief that Grand Rapids is a bottomless ocean of talent, so they don't need to treat their current employees with respect or give anyone a second chance. Some other random cons: Parking being miles away and having to be shuttled in, slow accrual of PTO, minimal raises, and minimal bonuses if you're even lucky to get a bonus
