Pros

The environment at Spektrix is very encouraging and supportive from all sides of the business, and they have an inclusive culture. Engineers care about the product they are working on and the quality of the code they write, putting a focus on testing and maintainability. Pair programming is used almost exclusively. The compensation is fair for the size of the company. Managers are open about job progression and compensation, and will help you to find opportunities to meet your goals. Very flexible around remote working, with very limited mandatory office days.

Cons

Much of the technology stack is outdated, but this is something that is being worked on. Benefits package is lacking in some aspects (namely, pension matching).

Spektrix Response

Thank you for your feedback and your hard work at Spektrix. It’s great to hear you feel supported and have worked with your manager to reach some of your career goals. TDD and pair programming are some of our key principles in the way we work in Engineering and feel this provides us with the best end product and experience for our team members. I appreciate your comments on benefits and technology, both are areas of focus for us.

Pros

Flexible work set up Easy to advance if management likes you

Cons

Management is deceitful, will encourage you to take PTO and penalize you for doing so. Metrics are measured subjectively with no comprehensive standardization of expectations. Claim they encourage feedback and then target those who provide feedback to management or question how employees are considered in their plans. Line management will build silent cases against you and give you false affirmations about your job status. HR is not equipped to handle anything. Racial bias is prevalent.
