Pros
Consistent Paychecks Little to no direct competitors.
Cons
Inexperienced managers. Middle and Upper Management promoted or retained from Good ole boy networks established in the startups that Spirent has purchased. Stuck on doing things the way they've always been done. Discouraged from changing old code because, "A really smart person wrote this". Refactoring is a dirty word and rewrites are out of the question. Turning prototypes into sell-able products is preferable Lack of job diversity. Pigeon holing on a single product or problem area is common practice for the majority of Engineers. Being told to "own" things and then micromanaged on how to do so despite significant proof that their processes are broken and their products need to be rewritten. Products are always rushed to production just to break the next day because all they do is manual testing. Unit testing is not required. Little to no direct competitors.
