Pros

Corporate credit card, overnight travel and meals paid for, mileage to and from stores

Cons

You are a general manager of all 3-5 stores, you are salary while your managers are hourly and cannot work overtime. You have zero work life balance. Mileage is under the IRS standard rate at $.48 a mile and they subtract 20 miles each day for “normal commute”. You have to organize the set up and tear down with little outside help. Those days are 12-16 hours in all conditions. They dangle a bonus of up to 7x your weekly wages ($1025) so 7125 max but they take over half out in taxes. A colleague of mine was fired because corperate watch her leave early on the camera systems to go to another store and they assumed she just wasn’t working. Work conditions consist of abandoned building without ac or heat, black mold and constantly told to lie to fire and building codes officers to open stores on time.

Pros

As a Halloween enthusiast & a people-person, getting to interact with & help customers find what they needed for the holiday was super fun! It was a job that kept me busy just about every day I was there (which, compared to my other retail jobs, was a nice change as it made the shifts go by quicker). Definitely the most chaotic retail job I've worked but it was fun!

Cons

Management was a bit scattered, and several co-workers were not reprimanded for things they definitely should've been due to the short holiday staffing. I also wasn't a huge fan of manipulating customers at the register to donate to charity-- The managers would get on you about it if you didn't say the most "convincing" spiel. Also, the bathroom didn't work due to a water leakage for like the first month of my time there. This one's to be expected but the minimum wage wasn't great. Although I will say the hardest set up & tear down days did have a $3/hr bonus which was appreciated.
