Hi there, thanks for the feedback. We’re glad to hear you felt a sense of autonomy in your work, and ownership of the goals you executed on. Our engineering team specifically strives to provide the appropriate scope of influence across all levels. Sorry to hear you did not have a positive experience with all your colleagues here at Spongecell. Our hiring practices do not discriminate against personal relationships, unless there is a direct reporting structure involved. We are also an EOE, and take that very seriously in our recruiting efforts. Our annual performance management process is designed to identify areas of improvement and our HR team partners with Managers to ensure the proper training and development plans are put in place. It is important all employees are executing at the highest level possible to achieve our individual, team and company goals. Any plans for improvement are discussed with employees individually for privacy. We appreciate you addressing your concerns so we can drive stronger partnerships in future review cycles.

Pros

The mission of the company is cool - the idea that every ad can be interactive and it doesn't have to be costly or a pain to deal with the way other rich media vendors make it (or at least have historically). Still a start-up environment so very casual atmosphere (no offices, wear jeans and really whatever you want to work, music played on central system Fridays, sporting events like the World Cup played in the couch area). Weekly food delivery so there's usually snacks and other food in the kitchen. Hours are great and there's an effort to do more fun things like Zog Sports and yoga in the office. Young team (only a couple people over 40) so there's a lot of good energy. Multiple insurance options - one health insurance plan is 100% employer covered. People are encouraged to collaborate with each other, share ideas between departments, etc.

Cons

All departments operate pretty leanly from a staffing perspective so everyone is stretched pretty thin. While people are encouraged to collaborate, there's little formal structure in place to ensure this happens. Internal communication needs to be improved within departments and inter-departmentally. More resources are needed within marketing, research, and overall sales support.
